The Center holds regular monthly meetings that are open to all ITU faculty and PhD students. Scheduled meetings for the rest of the term are:

We sometimes have shared readings or other prep for a session so please drop either Irina or Brit a line if you are interested in attending and we can make sure to pass along any needed material for that day.

Ben Light Lecture – Media scholar Ben Light gave a lecture entitled “Local Celebrity in the Internet” in March 2012.

Dawn Nafus Lecture – Intel Labs anthropologist Dawn Nafus gave a lecture entitled “Visible Upon Use: The Neoliberal Exception in Infrastructure Building on the China-Russia Border” in February 2012.

Annette Markham Lecture – Communication scholar and ethnographer Annette Markham gave a lecture entitled “Network Analysis as Bricoleur’s Tool” in December 2011.

Lori Kendall Lecture – Sociologist Lori Kendall (UIUC)  gave a lecture on “Sociotextual Identities: Studying Personal Archiving Documents” in May 2011.

Net-Cultures: Mobility and Location in Social Networks – The Center hosted a kick-starter research symposium on Mobility and Location in Social Networks, Friday, April 29th 2011 @ 9:00AM. See programme or more about the event. Full videos available online.

Susanna Paasonen Lecture – Media researcher Susanna Paasonen (Turku University, Finland) held two public talks on “Internet Pornography” and “Internet and Affect - how we can study how people react to what they see and hear online” in March 2011.

Internet Research 11.0: Sustainability, Participation, Action – The members of the Center for network Culture presented a panel discussion in the the 11th annual conference of the Association of Internet Researchers (AoIR) in Gothenburg, Sweden on October 21-23, 2010. See program.
