The Materiality, Authenticity and Value Project workshop took place in Rhu, on the west coast of Scotland, on the 22nd and 23rd of January 2014. I presented findings under three broad themes: attitudes towards material transformation, the relationship between material transformation and experiences of the authentic, and the roles of scientific research and intervention in conservation decision making. This storify gives an overview of the structure of the day and some themes emerging from discussion amongst academics and practitioners.
