Reception at the Copenhagen City Hall

The beautiful and historic City Hall was built in the years 1892-1905 and designed by architect Martin Nyrop. Both the City Hall and the shell shaped square are inspired by the city hall and square in Siena, Toscana, Italy, so the building itself is a combination of the older Danish architecture with Italian renaissance. The ECSA 2010 local organizers have secured that our conference delegates will be received here by Copenhagen Municipalityís representative on Tuesday, 24 August 2010, followed by a retreat to take place on the highest floor of the building, from where you have the full view of the City Hall Square and the lively city life outside.

Relaxing excursion with a harbour and canal tour

Being in Copenhagen and attending a software architecture conference without experiencing Copenhagen architecture will make your participation and visit incomplete. The ECSA 2010 local organizers have planned an excursion on Wednesday, 25 August 2010, for all delegates. A green bus will bring you from the IT University to the Royal Danish Playhouse, where the join dinner will take place after the excursion. From here, a canal boat with a professional, experienced guide will be taking you on a cruise through the harbour of Copenhagen. From the boat, you can see the famous Opera house, Amalienborg Palace and Garden, the Little Mermaid, the picturesque canals of Christians-havn with its wealth of well-preserved old buildings including the church of Our Saviour, many towers of Copenhagen etc. and then back to the Royal Danish Playhouse. Some snacks and refreshments will be provided when you enter the boat, and the tour is expected to last between 45 minutes to 1 hour.

A camera is an absolute must on this tour since some of Copenhagenís sights are seen much better from the waterfront. So donít forget it!
